The family of a teenage boy who was killed on Thursday after he was mowed down by a car in Canning Vale have described the ordeal as a 'bad dream they keep hoping to wake up from'.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the family of Jacob Cummins said they were heartbroken and devastated by the loss of their only child.

The family of Jacob Cummins said he was "funny, caring and had a heart of gold."

"He loved sport and soccer was his passion.

"Jacob always wanted to help others and this year did a charity walk for Pieta House suicide prevention."

The family also wanted to clarify that Jacob was not in a gang, and was "just a normal teenager".

"We ask that you please give us, the family, a chance to grieve in peace and stop all the negative comments and remember a life has been lost, our baby boy's life," they said.

"Two sets of parents have been destroyed by this and no parent should ever have to go through either ordeal.

"Rest in peace our beautiful boy."

The 17-year-old was killed after he was allegedly mowed down by Aya Hishmeh, 20, in Canning Vale on Thursday afternoon.

His death occurred around an hour after a fight between boys from two different schools broke out in a nearby park, which escalated to a brawl outside McDonald's Livingston and two people suffering minor stab wounds.

Ms Hishmeh has been charged with Jacob's murder and attempting to kill four other boys she allegedly hit with her car.
