Samsung Exynos 1080 to launch soon, claims researcher
Tech giant Samsung may be planning to unveil a new chip called the Exynos 1080 soon, as per the claims of a Samsung researcher. As per a report by SparrowsNews, tech giant Samsung will soon introduce the new Exynos 1080 chip. The report is based upon the claim of Dr Pan Xuebao, director of Samsung Semiconductor Research Institute, China.
The Exynos 1080 will reportedly be a 5nm chip, with promises of it being more energy efficient.
The researcher also claimed that the Exynos 1080 will use ARM’s Cortex-A78 and Mali-G78, the latest CPU and GPU architectures by the company. As per the report, the performance of Cortex-A78 at 2.1GHz is claimed to be about 20% higher than the A77 at 2.3GHz. Also, the Mali G78 is said to give 25% better performance than the G77.
The Exynos 980 powers devices like Galaxy A71 5G, Galaxy A51 5G, Vivo S6 5G, Vivo X30 Pro etc while the Exynos 990 powers flagship devices like the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+ and the Galaxy S20 Ultra. The Samsung smartphones Galaxy Note20, Note20 Ultra and S20FE are also powered by Exynos 990. Samsung is said to be working on another 5nm flagship chip, called Exynos 2100, which is said to launch on Samsung models.
